Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has said he hopes to run a time of 9.4s in the 100-metre in London. That time would break his own world record of 9.58s, set in Berlin in August of 2009. But Bolt’s coach, Glen Mills, said last week that he believes the world record may be safe. It’s not because Mills believes Bolt is incapable of running faster than 9.58, though. Mills holds that belief because he isn’t confident that the weather conditions will be right for a world-record performance in the 100-meter, he said.
“I’m not sure if London is going to be kind in terms of the temperature,” Mills told Reuters. “Given the right conditions like we had in Berlin, (a world record) is possible.”
