Dear Editor,
I cannot figure out why Mr Robert Corbin’s indication that he might not be seeking re-election as leader of the PNCR, is causing such a stir. I subscribe to the saying that “change is the only constant in life,” and the PNCR’s membership, while naturally being sad over Mr Corbin’s indication, should use that information to plan for the future in terms of agreeing on the qualities that Mr Corbin’s successor should possess.
Ideally, I would like to see party members come up with a consensus candidate who can build upon the PNCR’s gains at last November’s elections in Guyana.
Editor, I am aware that analysts will have both kind and unkind descriptions for Mr Corbin’s period of leadership, I ask them, however, to give Mr Corbin credit for the personal sacrifices that he made to stay in Guyana and guide his party through the struggles and battles with the PPP/C regime.
Yours faithfully,
Morris Wilson
