Guyanese man deported from US four times to be charged with illegal re-entry

A Guyanese man who has been deported from the United States four times will be charged with illegal re-entry and other charges, including identity theft, according to the website citizensvoice.com.

The report said that the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania will charge Leonard Sampson, 62,  with illegal re-entry, aggravated identity theft, falsely claiming to be a United States citizen, false statements related to acquiring a United States passport and food stamp fraud.

The report said that federal authorities are alleging that Sampson used someone else’s name to re-enter the United States and commit fraud. He was arrested in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in March this year.

According to the report, he faces up to 70 years in prison and more than US$1 million in fines if convicted.
