Five Grade Five pupils will vie for the Miss Stella Maris title at their school’s annual fair on May 26 and the girls are currently excitedly preparing. Each one is eager to take home the title of Miss Stella Maris.
Jenncia Dalrymple who is ten years old enjoys dancing and singing and hopes someday to become a medical doctor. Her platform, she said, is ‘Discipline’ and she will be required to answer her final question based on that platform.
Ten-year-old Tanzel Fung said that her platform is ‘Respect for Elders’. According to her, her hobbies are reading and dancing and she envisions herself as a medical doctor when she grows up.
Alliyah Adolphus who wishes to become a lawyer later in life says that she enjoys singing and dancing that’s why her platform is ‘Keeping a healthy lifestyle’. She, too, is only ten years old.
Ahiesha Antoo says her hobbies are dancing, swimming and reading and that her life’s ambition is to become a doctor. The ten-year-old also related that her platform is ‘Keeping a healthy school environment’.
Shemia Scott, who is also 10 aspires to become a doctor someday. Her platform is the fitting topic of ‘Good Conduct’ and she enjoys reading and singing.
The five girls are practicing hard and showing great promise. The head teacher of the school Leslie Luke said that guidelines to ensure that the competition is a clean and fair one were given out to all the entrants’ parents and so the event promises to be a successful one. The top prize, in addition to the crown, is a laptop computer to aid the winner in her studies at school. Contestants will also be complimented for best smile, best talent and best dress.
A point that was stressed on was that no disrespect to the headmistress, deputy headmistress, the chairman and executives of the PTA body or any other member of the pageant committee, when the decision of the judges has been announced, will be tolerated.
