(Trinidad Express) Three people were shot dead and another chopped to death in separate incidents in Port of Spain, Laventille, Diego Martin and Arouca between late Saturday and yesterday.
Among the victims is a woman who up to late yesterday had not been identified by police.
The latest killings, which took the murder toll up to 156, come on the heels of the shooting deaths of two other men in East Port of Spain and Morvant on Saturday.
Kimo Gomez, 17, of Jackson Place, East Dry River, Port of Spain; and Nigel “Monster” Edwards, 27, of Mon Repos Road, Morvant, were shot and killed near their homes.
Police have identified the latest murder victims as Emmanuel Ali, 19, of Finch Drive, Diego Martin; Sean Baptiste, 41, of Nelson Street, Port of Spain; and Krishna “Patax” Boodram, 45, of Koonoo Avenue, Longdenville Old Road, Enterprise, Chaguanas.
Boodram, a poultry attendant and watchman at Run Come For Fresh Chicken poultry depot at Eastern Main Road, Five Rivers Junction, Arouca, was found chopped and stabbed to death on a bed.
The discovery was made around 7 a.m. yesterday by Zainool Ali, the proprietor of the depot as he went to open the business, police said.
A cutlass and knife, believed to have been used in the attack, were recovered near the scene.
Officers believe unknown assailants forced their way inside through a door on the western side of the premises and attacked Boodram. A sum of $30,000 which was concealed inside a canister and represented Saturday’s sales, was also stolen, police said.
Police believe robbery may have been the motive behind the incident and Boodram was killed by people known to him.
Officers, led by Supt Garth Nelson, Insp Wayne Baptiste, David and Cpls Hezron Lynch and Leith Jones, visited the scene. Jones is probing the incident.
The killing in the capital city, police said, occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, when two men approached Baptiste as he was 1standing in front the People’s Mall along Henry Street, Port of Spain.
The assailants, without warning, opened fire on the victim hitting him multiple times in the head, before running off.
Baptiste fell on the pavement and died at the scene. A motive for the incident has not yet been established by police.
And around the same time, in Laventille, residents of Upper Espinet Street found an unidentified woman lying in a pool of blood along the roadway.
She had been shot multiple times about the body by unknown assailants and up to late yesterday had not been positively identified.
Police said the woman is approximately five feet, three inches tall, slim built, between 17-20 years old and was dressed in a blue denim skirt and brown-strapped top.
The deceased, police added, is light brown in complexion, has brown and black shoulder-length hair. She has a tattoo of a rose on the upper right back with the word “G-Shine” inscribed.
The victim also sported a pair of gold coloured hoop earrings and anklet on her left leg.
