With the semi-finals on the horizon, Tucville and East Ruimveldt boys’ teams along with North Georgetown Secondary female team, scored victories in the latest round of matches of the Scotiabank/Pepsi Schools football tournament played Saturday at the Tucville Ground in South Georgetown.
Tucville Secondary scored a crushing 8-0 victory over St. George’s High School Males in a Group A encounter.
Kevin Andrews scored a hat-trick for Tucville in the opening match of the triple-header.
Andrews scored in the 16th, 32nd and 45th minutes of play while Dennis Johnson converted a penalty in the 47th minute, Colin Waterman scored in the 50th, Roland Mares in the 53rd and Wesley Wishrop in the 58th minute.
Defending girls’ champions North Georgetown brushed aside Lodge Secondary 3-0 in their Group B encounter.
The goal scorer for North Georgetown was last year’s Most Valuable Player and National Under-17 Lady Jags player Althea Holligan who scored a hat trick in the 17th, 24th and 46th minute.
East Ruimveldt scored a 4-1 win over Christ Church in their Group B match.
The goal scorers for East Ruimveldt were: Romel Legall who scored in the seventh minute, Craig Hughes in the 11th and 25th and Ahmad Stephens who netted in the 35th.
Christ Church’s goal scorer was Andre Trotz who found the back of the net in the 26th minute.
Christ Church will battle Lodge Secondary when the tournament continues on Wednesday.
The match will be played at the Tucville ground starting at 15:30 hours.
On Saturday (Independence Day) the final two games in the round robin Segment will be contested at the same venue.
At 10am North Georgetown and Campbellville Secondary will square off in a girls’ fixture while at 11:30am, St. George’s High will oppose Queen’s College.
The semi finals in both the boys and girls’ categories are set for June 2 at the Tucville Ground while the finals in both divisions will be played on June 16 at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
