A release from the Georgetown Hospital today said that at around 06:00h this morning, there was a temporary breakage of a 2” Main Waterline within the ceiling of the Ambulatory Care and Diagnostic Centre (ACDC) building in the region of the Accident and Emergency Unit, which affected the smooth functioning of that and neighbouring departments.
The hospital said that “Unfortunately, a few surgeries which were scheduled to be performed in the Operating Theater had to be cancelled and the A&E Unit experienced some flooding.
“As a result of the broken main, the hospital’s water pump had to be temporarily turned off to facilitate repairs. Technicians are yet to ascertain the cause of the breakage, but within a matter of three (3) hours, they were able to rectify the problem and return operations to normalcy.
“Management regrets the inconvenience and discomfort this incident may have caused to both its patients and staff and assures that all efforts are being employed to ensure that the problem does not reoccur.”
