A businessman was yesterday placed on $400,000 bail for robbery under arms when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Kevin Nelson, 26, was not required to plead to the offence when it was read to him. It is alleged that on December 21, 2011, at Meadow Bank, East Bank Demerara, Nelson while being armed with a gun robbed Hardiyal Haripersaud of $1,685,000.
The prosecution had no objection to bail being granted, but asked that the amount be substantial.
Bail was then granted and the accused will have to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters every Friday.
