The Inter-Ministry/Corporations seven-a-side football tournament which kicked off on Thursday night at the Banks DIH Thirst Park ground will continue today at the same venue with 10 scheduled games.
Play will start at 13:00hrs with Bank of Guyana taking on Ministry of Tourism, Industry & Commerce; at 13:30 hrs National Insurance Scheme will tackle Guyana Lottery Company; and Media United will face Macorp at 14:15hrs.
Other games for the day will see Neal & Massy taking on J & S Electrical; GNSC vs. Ministry of Public Works; Ministry of Foreign Affairs versus New Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation; Guyana Telephone & Telegraph versus John Fernandes; Ministry of Education versus Guyana Revenue Authority; Republic Bank vs. Guyana Water Authority; and Banks DIH Limited versus GNIC.
The round robin tournament which is sponsored by Banks DIH Limited will see the winning team taking home $250,000 and a trophy.
The first, second and third runners-up will receive $175,000 and a trophy, $75,000 and a trophy and $25,000 and a trophy respectively.
On Thursday Deputy P.S. Ministry of Culture, Steve Ninvalle kicked off the proceedings and this was followed by a friendly match between GNIC and J & S Electrical which ended five goals to nil in favour of GNIC.
Goals came off the boots of Tavel Delember, Sherwin Smith, Derrow Chilott and a double by Keron Schmidt.
GNIC, J & S Electrical and Ministry of Public received walkover victories over Guyana Power and Light (GPL), Guyana Lottery Company and the National Insurance Scheme respectively.
In the final game for the night, Banks DIH Limited put away Republic Bank three goals to one after numerous attempts, with a double from Devon Forde and a goal from Phillip Rowley. Republic Bank’s goal came off the boot of Bruce Daniels.
