The two-day fair is set for June 2 and 3 at Caribbean Pepperpot (Eddy Grant’s place) St Lawrence Main Road, Christ Church. It has been organised by the tourism, youth and culture ministry and Go-Invest and is aimed at promoting Guyana as a tourist destination through the representation of Guyanese art, music, cuisine, culture, fashion and investment opportunities.
“This is a great opportunity for us to exhibit Guyana as a tourism destination, to showcase Guyanese food and drink, our goods, agriculture and culture. We will also arrange business meetings with Barbadian counterparts. This event is not just for Guyanese but for all to come, see and enjoy,” Kross Kolor founder Burchmore Simon said in a press release.
Popular artists Vanilla, Adrian Dutchin, Tennicia DeFreitas, Jumo, Rajesh Dubraj and Big Red are also expected to perform, the release said. The agenda also includes a performance and workshop by ‘Mad Professor’, a dub music producer and engineer known for his original productions and remix work. Born Neil Joseph, Stephen Fraser, ‘Mad Professor’ is considered one of the leading producers of dub music’s second generation and was instrumental in transitioning dub into the digital age.
