(Trinidad Express) Two security officers were shot late Saturday night in an incident at Santa Maria hotel at Bhagna Trace, Chaguanas.
Barry Gonzales, 47, of Couva and Alain Hall, 26, of Enterprise Chaguanas remain in a stable condition at the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex in Mount Hope. Gonzales was shot in the abdomen while Hall was shot in the left leg.
According to police reports, the two guards were working at the club around 10 p.m. when a man approached them and started speaking with them. The man then walked away, turned and shot at them, police said.
While fleeing the scene, the gunman pointed the weapon at an Express employee, who was standing outside the club with a friend. The gunman pulled the trigger three times. Each time, the gun failed to go off.
The Express employee and his friend along with the injured guards rushed into the building, following which three gun shots were heard.
Several minutes later, officers of the Chaguanas Police Station responded and processed the scene. The gunman fled in a waiting white AD wagon.
No motive for the shooting has yet been established.
