The National Community Basketball League continued on Tuesday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall as West Side Boys found themselves on the wrong side of an embarrassing 43-84 loss to Nigel Hinds and Associates North Ruimveldt.
It was a total disaster for the boys from the West Side from the opening tip as they lacked the ability to finish at the rim as well as any sort of defence, especially in transition which saw North Ruimveldt scoring most of their points on the fast break.
While North Ruimveldt showed some holes on their defensive side, allowing a number of open shots, they were efficient in running the fast break as well as finishing at the rim so they ended the game with a 41 point lead, the highest in the tournament to date.
Yusuf Edgil had 30 points for North Ruimveldt while his teammates Jason Squires and Damian Liverpool had 13 points apiece in the blowout win. Koel Bentick was the only meaningful contributor for the West Side Boys.
Meanwhile defending Champ-ions Digicom Albouystown/ Charlestown gave up a six-point lead in the fourth quarter to succumb to Guinness Bar Lodge/Meadowbrook 51-58.
The game was mostly scrappy between the two communities, as they both struggled to score the basketball while committing unnecessary fouls and turnovers.
While Digicom played better basketball throughout the first half, especially on the defensive end, their offensive struggles were evident particularly in the crunch as they missed most of their shots from the field in the final two quarters.
Darrion Lewis was the main contributor for Lodge/Meadowbrook throughout the game, ending with 16 points while his teammates Antwaun Austin and Mertimer Williams found their range late in the game to add 12 and 10 points respectively.
Victor Marvis Hillman was the only double-digit scorer for Albouystown/Charlestown with 10 points in the game.
Meanwhile the tournament will continue tonight at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from 19:00hrs with New Amsterdam clashing with Universal Group Wortmanville/ Werk-en-Rust in the first game while Tucville/Guyhoc will match up against Antarctic Maintenance Alpha/Bourda in the final game of the night.
