Musicians on Stage 2012 for NCC on June 10

The Guyana Music Teachers’ Association annual concert and awards ceremony Musicians on Stage will be held at the National Cultural Centre on June 10 from 3 pm.

The concert features performances of the high achievers of the recently held examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, along with other talented groups. The high achievers will also received trophies and awards.

This year, the Sarah Parris Trophy for Piano Grade 1 will go to Rejan McKay, a student of Clemsville Music Conservatory who earned a distinction. The Miriam Daniels/Sybil Husbands Trophy for Piano Grade 2 will go to Diante Callender, a student of Clemsville Music Conservatory who earned a distinction.

Malcolm Sparman, another student of Clemsville Music Conservatory will receive the Dr Mendes Trophy for Violin Grade 3 for earning a distinction.

The Clara Burrowes Trophy for Piano Grade 3 will go to Masheshwerie Samaroo, a student of Rosemary Henry for earning a distinction.

Adaeze Lumumba, a student of the student of Clemsville Music Conservatory will receive the Rosemary Benjamin Noble Trophy for Violin Grade 4 for earning a distinction, as well as the Bernadette Theodore-Gandi Prize for Violin/Woodwind, the Junior Music Teachers’ Prize and the William Pilgrim Trophy for the Highest Distinction Mark Overall.

Larissa Wiltshire, a student of student of Marilyn Dewar M.Ed will receive a Certificate for the Highest Merit Mark at Grade 4 Piano.

The Marcelle Hack Trophy for Piano Grade 5 will go to Jason Robert Koylass, student of Rosemary Henry for earning a distinction.

David Dewar, a student of Marilyn Dewar M.Ed will receive the Rosemary Henry Trophy for Singing Grade 8 for earning a distinction. He will also receive the Senior Music Teachers’ Prize and the Philip Pilgrim Memorial Harp.

Margaret Rose Arthur, who earned a distinction in Grade 5 Theory will receive the Edna Jordan Trophy for Theory from Grades 4 upwards. She is a student of Sharon Bryan.

The Junior Teachers’ Prize will go to Wendy Rudder of the Clemsville Music Conservatory, while the Senior Teachers’ Prize will go to Marilyn Dewar.

Stephen Carleston, Examiner of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music conducted examinations in Guyana between April 30 and May 4 with 123 students on piano, violin, violoncello and voice from the Prep Test to Grade 8 Level. There were nine withdrawals, 29 Prep Tests, 42 passes, 29 merits, 13 distinctions and one failure.
