Three persons are in police custody assisting with investigations into the murder of 18-year-old Marlon Andrew Ramcharran who was discovered around 2 am on Sunday on the side of the road in Block 4, Tain New Housing Scheme in a pool of blood with gaping chops to his body.
His mother, Geetawatie Ramgobin, 42, known as Pamela said that her son left their Lot 128 Tain Settlement, Corentyne home around 20:00 hrs on Sunday. To go to a wake house in Johns, a neighbouring village and to purchase a phone card but he never returned home.
It was around 2 am that she received a call from her sister Swarswattie Gobin who had been informed by Ramcharran’s friends that he had been chopped up in front of the popular night club Dust Till Dawn.
She said she and her daughter Naomi Ramcharran and her sister hurried to the scene but when they arrived there they were told by two of his friends that he was on the road at Block 4.
He was lifeless when they got there, she said, lying in a pool of blood. She said her son received two chops on his head, one behind his neck and one on his left side under his arm and was lying face down.
The grieving mother related that her only son was the sole bread winner for the family. He was a construction worker, she said, and a very jovial person. Ramgobin said that according to his friends, he had been shouting out to his killer/s that it was the wrong person. She also recalled that some time in the past Ramcharran had been kidnapped at his home.
According to reports, Ramcharran came into contact with his killer/s at the nightclub.
Stabroek News learnt that two of the three persons in police custody are the dead youth’s friends.
A post-mortem examination was performed yesterday at the New Amsterdam hospital. Ramcharran leaves to mourn his mother father and three sisters.
