(Barbados Nation) Though grounded, low-fare airline REDjet is still experiencing some turbulence – of the financial kind.
Just when the Antigua government made it clear it would not fund the airline, a Barbadian passenger spoke of mounting a protest in Barbados to get her refund for a trip to St Maarten which she was not able to make because of the sudden suspension of flights on March 16.
On Tuesday, Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer dismissed REDjet as “doomed to failure” and said its low-fare model was “unsustainable” for the regional airline industry
Spencer said if his government was going to help any airline, it would be LIAT, of which they are a major shareholder.
