Oliver Yaw was sentenced to nine months in jail after he admitted to fraudulently converting the money of a woman to his own personal use, when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Yaw pleaded guilty a charge of fraudulently converting $23,000 belonging to Jonel Brewley to his personal use when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton. The court heard that on Tuesday at D’Urban Street, Werk-en-Rust, Brewley entrusted the money to Yaw for him to pay Courts and return the receipt to her.
However, he failed to do so and used the woman’s money for his own purposes.
After hearing the facts of the case, Magistrate Octave-Hamilton then imposed penalty on Yaw.
