Dear Editor,
In the Sunday Stabroek dated June 10, 2012, Liverpool Village on the Corentyne Coast was featured in your ‘The World Beyond Georgetown’ column. The Lan-Liv-Man (abbreviation for Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester) Community Centre was incorrectly referred to as the Hogstye-Manchester Community Centre. This is the second instance in your newspaper where the community centre has been incorrectly named. I doubt whether your reporter is au fait with the fact that there was a name change of the centre just before elections, by PPP activists in the community. This is illegal and was done without any knowledge of the residents of the community. The Hogstye-Lancaster Ibo Group is currently engaging the services of a sign artist to undo this wrong.
Yours faithfully,
Ndibi Schwiers-Ceres
