The Guyana Community Based Rehabilitation Programme (GCBRP) plans to install electronic equipment and construct a fence at its Golden Grove Resource Centre with funds provided from the Australian Government to enhance its Building Brighter Futures project for children with disabilities.
In a press release, the GCBRP said the project is being implemented under the Australian Government’s Direct Aid Programme that aims to enhance support for parents of children with disabilities. The Resource Centre located at President’s College Road, Golden Grove, will be upgraded to provide co-ordinated access to services and interventions, and support early interventions to maximise the potential of children with disabilities. This includes providing support for the integration of children with disabilities into community life with the provision of aides, expanded behavioural therapies for children who need it and increased training for staff and local professionals in order to meet specific individual needs.
