Kevin Bevney, a taxi driver, was yesterday charged with the possession and trafficking of narcotics, after allegedly being held with cannabis during a police search.
Bevney, 31, appeared in the Springlands Magistrateโs Court before Magistrate Krishndat Persaud, who remanded him to prison.
It was alleged that on June 12, 2012, at the Moleson Creek ferry Stelling, police found 10 kilogrammes of cannabis in the ride side door of a silver grey 212 PHH 2564 car that was departing for Suriname.
Bail was refused for Bevney after he failed to provide any special reason for it to be granted. He is to return to court on June 29, 2012.
