The Guyana Defence Force overran the University of Guyana football team at the GFC Ground, Bourda on Wednesday in the continuation of the President’s Beer Tournament, inflicting a 10–nil drubbing.
Scoring for the GDF were Delwun Fraser with three goals in the 11th, 35th and 40th minutes, Desford Williams in the 42nd, 86th and 89th minutes, Celuor Narine in the 5th minute, Eusi Phillips in the 7th minute, Sherwyn Caesar in the 9th minute and Quincy Craig in the 82nd minute.
Williams is the leading goal scorer in the tournament with 12 goals after 11 matches and Wednesday’s hat-trick is his second in the tournament.
In the opening match Sunburst Camptown edged out the Police by a 3-2 margin.
Scoring for Camptown were Anthony Sanco with two goals in the 32nd and 51st minutes and Devon Forde in the 36th minute. The GPF scorers were Reydon Boston in the 56th minute and Rondell Arthur in the 66th minute.
The competition continues today at the GFC Ground, Bourda with a double header.
In the first match Police will engage UG from 18:00 hours followed by Beacon tackling Northern Ranger in the feature match from 20:00 hours.
