The Iwokrama International Centre on Thursday presented a plaque to the Guyana Police Force, in recognition of the continuous, reliable and efficient support to the Iwokrama River Lodge, at Kurupukari, by ranks of ‘E&F’ (interior) Division, with the maintenance of law and order and forest conservation. Dr. Raquel Thomas, of Iwokrama, presented the plaque and lauded the willingness of the police ranks to assist when needed and the positive working relationship between the force and the organisation. According to a statement from the police force, in addition to policing, ranks from the Division interact with Iwokrama personnel through talks on issues such as domestic violence and the use of drugs. Second-in-Command of the Division, Superintendent Lawrence Kissoon received the plaque on behalf of the force and pledged its continuous support for forest conservation and the work of Iwokrama’s staff. The presentation ceremony was held at the Commissioner’s Conference Room, in the presence of the force’s senior management, which included acting Commissioner Leroy Brumell and Divisional Branch Commanders.
