The Police Progressive Youth Club will host a one-day seminar for athletes today from 12:00hrs at the Felix Austin Police College.
According to a press release, 75 athletes are expected to attend the programme which is aimed at educating them on morals, ethics and discipline as it relates to sports and their everyday lives.
President of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) Colin Boyce is expected to give some remarks to the athletes, along with Assistant Commissioner Gavin Hope.
Executive of the Police Club Pamela Philips stated in the press release that the seminar is expected to aid in the development of the athletes.
Coach of the Police Sports Club, Lyndon Wilson, said that the programme is the first of its kind and he expects more programmes of this nature will be arranged. He noted too that e noted tyoo the response from clubs was good.
“Well it’s the first of its kind because we see the need for athletes to understand morals and ethics, especially on tours and more of its kind will come about.
“The response from all the clubs has been okay so we expect a good turnout of roughly 65 athletes,” Wilson stated.
