The Private Sector Commission (PSC) recently engaged in discussions with teams from two Canadian tertiary institutions that have offered to train Guyanese for development in the emerging oil and gas sector.
In a press release, the PSC said Canadian High Commissioner David Devine facilitated the meeting with representatives from the College of the North Atlantic and the Marine Institute of Memorial University. Canada has been proposing a number of joint initiatives geared to foster the development of an oil and gas sector in Guyana and the Canadian High Commission has also launched a study on how companies in the oil and gas industry in Newfoundland and Labrador can partner with Guyanese companies.
The university officials, who have over 25 years of experience in training for the oil and gas sector, asserted that planning is vital for the successful development of the industry here; noting the “phenomenal growth of the industry in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
