Defending Champions Young Achievers Volleyball Club is racking up the wins in the third annual Tradewind Tankers nationwide invitational volleyball competition organized by Castrol Strikers which began Saturday at the National Gymnasium.
Young Achievers grabbed three wins in the tournament on the opening day with their strong and attacking play during the course of the day.
Achievers first defeated ALS 30-27 in a close battle before trouncing Lusignan 30-18 points in their second match-up. Achievers then endured a tight battle with the Teacher’s Training College that ended 19-11.
Falcon also had a good day out by racking up two wins as well as they defeated Guyana School of Agriculture 30-19 then went on to trounce Demerara Girls 17-3 on the first day of the tournament.
Meanwhile Castrol Strikers lost their opening game to Port Mourant 23-30 when the tournament tipped off.
The tournament will now continue in two weeks time when the second round kicks off in Berbice.
