Twelve-year-old Mohamed ‘Kevin’ Ramnarine, who was struck down by a minibus along the Friendship, East Bank public road seven weeks ago, has relapsed into a coma at the Georgetown Hospital’s Paediatric Ward.
Ramnarine, of Lot 37 ‘C’ Dam, Friendship, East Bank Demerara, is still being monitored at the hospital, where he regained consciousness last month after being comatose in the three week-period after the accident.
Doctors had indicated to his family that he was in a very critical condition until he opened his eyes for the first time.
However, the boy later fell back into an unconscious state.
Stabroek News yesterday spoke to a relative of the boy who said that his condition has not improved and family is paying keen attention to his situation. The female relative added that she has not received information from the police about the whereabouts of the driver who, she pointed out, has never contacted the family or visited the child at the hospital.
Ramnarine was on May 1 flung some 10 feet away after being hit by a Linden/ Soesdyke bus that was at the time transporting passengers to Georgetown.
The child was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre from where he was subsequently transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
