GDF currently leads in the President’s Beer/GFA League Tournament with 30 points, after securing a 4-nil victory over Black Pearl on Wednesday at the GFC Ground, Bourda.
GFC, now relegated to second place with its 28 points, still has a chance to win the tournament. To do this, GFC would need to defeat GDF in the final match to earn 3 points, bringing its score to 31. However, if GDF wins, the 3 points would bring its score to 33 points and out of reach of any other team in the tournament.
Scoring for GDF in the match against Black Pearl were Delwyn Fraser with two goals in the 35th and 89th minutes, Desford Williams in the 21st minute and Quincy Craig in the 80th minute.
Meanwhile, Police pulled off a major upset, defeating Riddim Squad 4-1. This win edges Police closer to the Premier League. In order to secure the final spot in the league, Police must now either draw or win in its game against Flamingo. The win over Riddim Squad has carried Police to 16 points, while Flamingo has 14 points.
The scorers for the Police in the match against Black Pearl were Rawl Haynes in the 38th minute, Romell Sancho in the 45th minute, Veron Boston in the 70th minute and Teon Jones in the 65th minute. The lone goal for Riddim Squad was scored by Devon Bentick in the 32nd minute.
