(Barbados Nation) REDjet was doomed to fail, admits one of its principal investors and former director Ralph “Bizzy” Williams.
The businessman was responding to this assertion from aviation consultant and former Seawell Airport manager Pat Callender.
However, unlike Callender who said that the now insolvent airline inevitably failed because its low-fare strategy was wrong for this region, and the planes used were inappropriate, Williams attributed REDjet’s demise to a lack of fair play in regional aviation.
“REDjet was competing against airlines that are owned by the regulators that controlled REDjet, so it was doomed from the start no matter how good its business model was,” said Williams.
