Niron Bissu, who was selected by the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) to participate at next month’s Pre-Cadet tournament in Jamaica, on Saturday received sponsorship from Digital Technology Incorporated.
Digital Technology Incorporated is a computer sales and solutions provider and the donation took place at its newly-built headquarters Diamond, East Bank Demerara.
According to a press release from the GTTA, the company contributed an undisclosed sum of cash to young Bissu to help offset his expenses in his quest to bring Guyana regional honours
Bissu, the release stated, is a part of the GTTA’s Generation Next players and will compete in the 10-years-and-under category.
The 17th Caribbean Pre-Cadet championships are scheduled for July 20-25 and some 10 countries have indicated their intention to participate.
The tournament will be held at the University of the West Indies Auditorium, UWI Bowl.
Assistant Secretary of the GTTA, Linden Johnson, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the GTTA to the sponsors for supporting the GTTA.
Chief Financial Officer of Digital Technology, Subrina Sukhu, wished young Bissu and the other members of the Guyana team every success in their quest for team and individual honours.
She stated that Digital Technology, a corporate responsible company, has been supporting athletes and community programmes adding that they were happy to support young athletes like Niron since the company views this as an investment in Guyana’s future.
