The Guyana Model Search/Designers’ Portfolio (GMS/DP) is urging businesses to book now as limited spaces remain for persons interested in exhibiting items at its Better Living 2012 grand lifestyle extravaganza set for July 1 at Isika.
The exposition is a new aspect of the GMS/DP programme which aims at presenting a holistic method to empower youth. “Fashion is being used as an impetus to garner momentum for realistic national building initiatives,” organisers said in a press release.
Pieces from designers Olympia Sonoram, Sonia Noel, Marcie De Santos, Maxie Williams, Neilson Nurse and other top designers will be featured in a fashion show. A hair and nail competition willalso be held along with make-up demonstrations and workshops by the health and human services ministries and PAHO.
A fun park for children and a well stocked food court will also be available to patrons. Children under the age of 12 can enter the fun park free. The agenda also includes theatrical performances throughout the day which will climax with an event titled ‘Glamorous… Walking on Sunshine’ featuring the finals of the GMS/DP where winners will be selected for the three model titles and the best designer title. Winners will receive prizes in cash and kind. ‘Walking on Sunshine’ will be a one-of-a-kind event that combines two modern forms of event-making aimed at boosting initiatives by the Guyana Tourism Authority to lift the nation’s profile, the release said.
Businesses interested in hosting an exhibition at the event can contact John Quelch or Kofie Branch at telephone number 226-3099.
