The Ministry of Culture says six sub-committees have been set up to manage Guyana’s contributions and to co-ordinate activities for the different disciplines expected to be showcased at the second Inter-Guiana Cultural Festival set for August 23.
Preparations are also moving apace for a gala welcome celebration at the National Cultural Centre on Thursday August 23 at the three-day extravaganza that will showcase the best cultural traditions and contemporary artistic offerings from French Guiana, Suriname and Guyana.
The sub-committees will manage the programme for exhibitions, performances, workshops, lectures and master classes in the performing arts, literary, culinary, fashion and visual arts, the ministry said in a press release. The teams are being led by Assistant Director of Culture Colonel (rtd) Lindon Ross, Desiree Wyles-Ogle, Lennox Canterbury, Lorraine Barker-King (international co-ordinator, performing arts), Linda Griffith (dance), Alim Hosein (literary arts), Penelope Harris (culinary arts) Carol Fraser (fashion), Enrico Woolford (film) and Denzil Hollingsworth (craft).
