WASHINGTON, June 28 (Reuters) – The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday voted U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his refusal to turn over some Justice Department documents related to a botched gun-running probe along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Republican-controlled House said Holder was in contempt, in a mostly partisan vote. But it was unclear whether the move would be effective in prompting the Obama administration to provide emails and other communications to Congress or whether it would spark a long court battle.
