Dear Editor,
I shall appreciate the space to clear the air on a few matters.
First, I have never written anything at any time to any newspaper under any name other than the one signed below. On occasion, I have shared ideas with, and provided insights to, others who contribute to the letter pages. No more, no less.
Second, to the powers that be in the Guyana Police Force (or wherever else) I tender thanks for removing those surveillance operators. They were easily discoverable; I have seen better. In fact, I was alerted to expect just such a development, and tolerated them more out of curiosity than anything else. That is, until I was prompted to spoil their little charade. May I suggest that the taxpayers’ dollars could be put to much better use, given the wastage and pervasive corruption (there we go again) in existence. Incidentally, those fellows look good on my own system(s).
Third, it is regrettable that a CEO would allow his domain to be used for such nefarious purposes. Still, not unexpected, all things considered.
Last, every time I write in the newspaper, stress is placed on a promise made. Also, I struggle with my own withdrawal and silence in the face of the pervasive and corrosive; the currently divisive and the potentially destructive. I find abhorrent the characters who constantly pursue ways to enrich themselves, while ruining the nation. Thus I question myself: what is it going to be –withdrawal or engagement?
Having said these things, I weigh my next moves.
Yours faithfully,
GHK Lall
