Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon on Wednesday announced that Cabinet has given its support for the Bank of Guyana (BoG) to introduce a $5,000 bank note.
“The $1000 bank note that currentlyexists as the higher denomination was introduced in 1996 and will be supplemented by a higher denomination. I think $5000 was mooted by the Bank of Guyana,” he said, according to the Government Information Agency.
According to Dr. Luncheon, the BoG officials provided Cabinet with convincing explanations for the introduction of the higher bank note.
