GRACE ROAD, England, CMC – Ramnaresh Sarwan top-scored with 39 but Leicestershire’s losing slide in the Twenty20 Championship continued on Wednesday with a narrow four-run defeat to Yorkshire.
The out-of-favour West Indies right-hander hit a four and a six off 33 balls as the Foxes, chasing 152 for victory, ended 149 for nine off their 20 overs
With Leicestershire struggling at 79 for four in the 12th over, Sarwan combined with Wayne White (22) in a 56-run, fifth wicket stand off 38 balls, that put the hosts in sight of victory.
Sarwan was run out off the last ball of the 18th over with 17 needed from 12 balls but the Foxes lost five wickets for 12 runs to collapse spectacularly.
Earlier, David Miller got 37 and Rich Pyrah, 35, as leaders Yorkshire tallied 151 for nine after they were sent in.
Leicestershire are bottom of the North Group after losing five of their six games.
