One of the survivors of last Monday’s fatal accident at Novar, Mahaicony, died on Friday night while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Narine Datt Bissoon died in the High Dependency Unit two hours after he was taken back to the institution after undergoing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), his sister Kamla told Stabroek News yesterday.
The woman said that up until the time of his death, his condition was listed as serious. She said that from all indications his condition deteriorated. She explained that the man hardly responded to his wife during a visit on Friday. The previous days, he was speaking and responding more, she said.
Meanwhile, the other survivor, Gopaul Brignandan, 59, of Dundee, Mahaicony remains a patient of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the same medical institution.
Police had said in a press release that they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 22:45 hrs at Novar, Mahaicony, ECD which resulted in the death of driver Chetram Singh, 52, of Good Faith, Mahaicony, ECD and injuries to the occupants Bissoon and Brignandan.
The release said investigations have revealed that Singh was driving motor vehicle PKK 9600 along the public road when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with motor lorry GJJ 4906 which was parked on the road.
Singh and the two occupants suffered injuries and were taken to the Mahaicony Hospital and then transferred to the GPH. Singh later succumbed, while the other two were admitted patients.
