A 51-year-old man was this afternoon found buried in a shallow grave in a yard four corners from his Enmore home with suspected stab wounds and the prime suspect has since vanished.
Dead is Gangaram Bharrat, a farmer and resident of 10th Street, Foulis Enmore, East Coast Demerara.
The man’s relatives told Stabroek News at the scene that last Friday he left his home for 14th Street to drink with some friends. Neighbours, they said, suspecting that something was amiss contacted them the following day saying that the man did not return home.
After still not hearing from him over the weekend, the man’s niece and her husband decided to visit the last place he visited. When they arrived at the 14th Street house, they saw Bharrat’s cap in the car which was parked in the yard.
The yard, relatives said looked very clean and they decided to search it further.
While in the back yard they noticed that some of the soil was disturbed and decided to dig.
Relatives said that it was then that the discovery was made.
Police officials identified the suspect as Joel, a 23 year old man. Joel along with his wife has since vanished.
Four neighbours are in police custody assisting with investigations.
