A 29-year-old man was hospitalised yesterday after he was shot during a robbery at Ekereku in the Cuyuni area on Sunday evening.
Reports are that Gavin Crawford, of Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara (WCD) was robbed by another man on Sunday night at the border community of Ekereku.
He was shot to his left thigh and he was subsequently taken to a health centre in the area. After experiencing difficulties sourcing transportation from the remote community, the man was air dashed to the city yesterday afternoon. He was taken directly to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH)’s main operation theatre for emergency surgery.
He was subsequently admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the hospital.
The man’s condition was listed as stable.
