Bush Lot Secondary School yesterday edged out Mahaicony Technical Institute by a 2-1 margin to win the Region Five final of the Digicel Schools nationwide football competition at the Mahaicony Communty Centre ground.
Marlon Nicholson scored a double for Bush Lot in the 18th and 22nd minutes while Derick Thomas scored for Mahaicony Technical Institute in the 83rd minute.
The win will see Bush Lot Secondary heading to Lethem this weekend to play the Region Nine winners.
Coach of Bush Lot Secondary Noel August said that he expected his team to win and that was from the first match they played.
He added that his team could have done better, but understood that the weather had a part to pay in their somewhat poor performance.
Parts of the ground was under water from heavy rains.
Meanwhile, two of the players heading to Lethem Keron Lynch and Oswin Carmichael said that they were excited about the trip as they only heard about it.
“I am happy to be going to Lethem because I could come back and tell my family what I learnt,” Carmichael said.
