It went down to the wire, but Tutorial High School nevertheless prevailed and were crowned Regional 6 Champions. Yesterday in the zone final of the Digicel Schools football nation wide tournament.
In yesterday’s final,
Tutorial defeated Berbice Education Institution 3-2 on penalty kicks after the two teams had battled to a stalemate.
The scorers for Tutorial were: Anthony Weekes, Delroy Edwards and Trevon Debone while H. Adams and G. Solomon scored for Berbice Educational Institute.
Playing in front of a crowd of than 200 at the All Saints Ground, the teams managed to hold each other scoreless throughout the 90 minutes of regulation time.
Both teams managed to thrill as well as drive their supporters to anger as they showed off their skills in tackling and dribbling while missing several goal scoring opportunities. In the end, the better team won and will be heading to Skeldon where they will play either the winner of Region 1 or 7. The Regional finals between Regions 1 and Regional 7 will be played this weekend.
Coach/Teacher of Tutorial High Sukahnauth Utan when approached for a comment asked for a few minutes to catch himself as he was out of breadth.
“I told you it was going to come down to the wire, because is the best two teams in Region 6 were playing each other,” he said.
He added that he was confident of his team winning and moving on in the tournament.
