Working People’s Alliance Executive Member, Dr David Hinds will participate in a symposium on the life and work of Dr Walter Rodney to be held in Trinidad today, the WPA said in a press release.
The symposium organized by The Emancipation Support Committee of Trinidad will explore some of the issues which defined Walter Rodney’s life as a scholar and activist.
The symposium which is part of the Kwame Ture (Stokely Carmichael) Memorial Public Lecture Series is titled Grounding with My Brothers: A Tribute to Walter Rodney.
Dr Hinds, who delivered this year’s Walter Rodney Memorial Lecture here will speak specifically on Rodney’s activism in Guyana in a presentation titled Groundings in Guyana: Walter Rodney and Political and Racial Jointness in Guyana.
While in Trinidad Hinds is expected to meet with some member organizations of the governing People’s Partnership to get a sense of the workings of the partnerships there.
WPA said it hopes to draw some lessons from the Trinidad experience as part of a wider study of Partnership Politics being undertaken by the party as it reviews its own experience as part of APNU in Guyana.
