It was name and nature for Dennis DeRoop of the Simply Royal Stables whose bay mare Who So Ever was simply royal in winning the feature event at the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facility in association with Banks DIH Limited CARICOM Day Horse Race meet on Monday.
In an almost photo finish, Who So Ever just edged out
Mission King with the Message, third and Work Force fourth.
The win in the `B’ class and lower event over a distance of furlongs netted De Roop the princely sum of one million dollars, compliments of Banks DIH Limited and the Elcock family trophy.
It was a hard day’s work for Work Force of the Vibert Stables who had earlier in the day captured the E class and lower race in another close finish from Dubai Duchess with Stormy Lass and Swing Easy third and fourth respectively.
Work Force took away $500,000 and a trophy donated by the Elcock family.
Silent Lizze of the Elcock Stables made a lot of noise when it upset a star-studded field to win the three year-old race for animals born and bred in Guyana and the West Indies.
Silent Lizzie carted off $500,000 and the Sunil Tickaram trophy.
Feels Like Gold, Rock Sona and Storm in a Tea Cup were second, third and fourth respectively.
Wild Grinder gave the Singh’s Stables its first win carting off the two–year-old West Indies and Guyana bred horses race which had at stake the sum of $250, 000 and the Tickaram family trophy from Flying Baby and True Gold respectively.
Other winners were Third World of the Quinn Stables,
Which carted off $400,000 and the Aubrey Elcock trophy for three-year-olds Guyana bred horses.
Joyful Victory and Watch My Shadow were second and third respectively.
Face the Fire was also in victory lane in the G class and lower event which earned the winner $400,000 and the Roopnauth Sewsankar trophy.
Celebration Time, Intriguing Account and Miss Regina, were second, third and fourth respectively while Party Time of the Ramnarine Stable won the two-year-old Guyana bred horses from Silent Night, Jasmine and Sumer Breeze.
The winning horse romped home with $400,000 and the
Suknandan family trophy while Funny Sided of the Gray Stables won the `H’ class and lower race which had at stake the sum of $300,000 money and the Digicel trophy. Dream Girl, Apostle and Wicked Intention were the next three finishers.
And Apostle won the $180,000 and the Chico Singh trophy in the I2 event from Mona Lisa, Speed Vision and Try Again while the JKL event was won by It’s My Time ahead of Pick Pocket, Lucky Gamble and Wonder Flower.
Raj Drepaul was declared champion jockey and the Colin Elcock the champion trainer.
