Construction of $7.2M health post among infrastructure works slated for Region 7

The Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni) Regional Democratic Council (RDC) on Tuesday completed the signing of 25 contracts for the first phase of infrastructure works in the region, including a $7.2M contract for the construction of a health post at Wyling, Upper Mazaruni.  The contract for the health post was awarded to Clairmont Chase, who was also awarded a $6.3 contract for the construction of a primary school at Wyling Annex to Phillipai Village, the RDC said in a press statement.

The RDC said that Regional Executive Officer Peter Ramotar encouraged the completion of the projects in a diligent and timely manner, despite the lateness in the award of the contracts.

In addition to Chase, Floyd Jones was awarded the $7M contract to build a heavy-duty bridge at Byderabo/Agatash, Bartica, according to the statement.

Edward Skeete won a $1.9M contract to build furniture for the Bartica Education Department and a $5.8M contract for the extension of the Phillipai Primary School. Maurice Balgobin won a $6M contract for the construction of a river revetment at Byderabo. He also won two additional contracts, each valued $6.3M; one to maintain the alleyway drain between 3rd and 4th avenues and between 2nd and 3rd streets, Bartica, and for maintenance of the alleyway drain between 3rd and 4th avenues, North Side, Bartica.

Gerald Jordan won a $5.7M contract for the construction of a sanitary block at the Kako Primary School. He also won a $4.5M contract for the rehabilitation and extension of the Kaikan health Post, at Upper Mazaruni, a $2.1M contract for maintenance work on the fence around the Kaikan Primary School and Teacher’s Quarters, a $2.5M contract for the backfilling of a section of Old Bagwall Revetment, Byderabo Waterfront, and a $3.7M contract for backfilling a section of Bagwall Revetment. In addition, Stephen Gomes won a contract for maintenance of a section of Bagwall, at Byderabo.

Clinton Isaacs won six contracts: one to maintain the Beach View Nursery School at Bartica ($2.9M), one for maintenance of a section of the Nurse’s Hostel in Bartica ($2.5M), one for the St Anthony’s Primary School’s fence ($700,000), one for the maintenance of the AREO’s Quarters and Office at Kamarang, Upper Mazaruni ($4.1M), one for the extension of the Kamarang Admin Building ($2.8M), and one to build bridges at the St John the Baptist Primary School ($800,000).

Orin Daniels won five contracts: one for the maintenance of the Learning and Research Centre at Bartica ($1.4M), one for maintenance of a section of the fence and the compound of the centre ($4.3M), one for maintenance of the fence around the Assistant Field Auditor’s Quarters ($1M); one for the maintenance of the concrete and chain-link fence at the Bartica Secondary School dormitory compound ($3.9M), and one  for the chain-link maintenance of the fence at the Hill View Nursery School ($950,000).
