The Rotary Club of Stabroek, Georgetown inaugurated its new President and Board of Directors for 2012-2013, at a ceremony hosted last Wednesday at the Georgetown Club.
According to a press release, Luana Falconer was inaugurated President and the board comprises immediate past president Patricia Plummer, president-elect Grace McCalman, Secretary Anand Harrilall, assistant Secretary/Treasurer Coby Frimpong and directors Ron Amos, Gary Hall and Delroy Carrington.
In her last address as president, Plummer said Stabroek Rotary has advanced its work in functional literacy and has used experience garnered from its project in Buxton to start a new project in the Bagotsville/La Grange community. According to Plummer, the Club believes in combating illiteracy amongst youths and it was grateful for the many partnerships from local and international agencies.
In her address, Falconer reminded the meeting that Rotary International President Sakuji Tanaka’s theme for this rotary year is ‘Peace through service.’ She challenged Rotarians to examine themselves in the light of this theme and seek ways to achieve this through collective efforts in implementation of legacy projects and new ventures.
District 7030 (Caribbean) Assistant District Governor for Guyana KA Juman Yassin congratulated the club on its achievements over the past year and presented Plummer with the district’s award for vocational service project.
