Argentina’s Navy Ship ARA Libertad

Argentina’s, 104 metres, Navy Ship  ARA Libertad is docked some ten miles off the coast of Guyana and yesterday entertained Prime Minister Samuel Hinds and members of the diplomatic corps as a part of its round-the-world trip which concludes in December of this year. The 329-crew navy ship was first launched in Argentina in 1956 and made it first voyage in the year 1963. It completed its first round-the-world trip in 1965. The Libertad has a world record of being the fastest tall vessel to complete the Atlantic sail and is also the 8-time Boston Tea Pot winners. In 2004-2007 the Libertad underwent half life restoration works where it was rehabilitated to serve much longer.  (Photo by Lakhram Bhagirat)
