Red Thread and WPA activists are inviting the public to join them in picketing the Office of the President tomorrow, as they stand in solidarity with Linden over the proposed hike in electricity bills.
According to a press release, the groups say the increase in rates are coming at a time when Linden is clearly in economic depression. “Since those of us who live on the coast are being used against them, with the claim being made that Linden expects us to subsidise them, let’s show that we reject this divide and rule out of hand,” they added.
Persons can join the picketing exercise with placards already written up, including with the name of the organisation being represented if they wish to publicise it; or they can bring a piece of cardboard and work with organisers to come up with slogans.
The exercise will be held at Shiv Chanderpaul Drive between South Road and Regent Street from 11.30am to 1pm.
