The long-awaited dust collector system on kiln #14 at the Bosai bauxite plant was put into full operation today at 9:40 am.
As was anticipated, there was no dust emission from the kiln except a very minimal amount of smoke when the kiln started up and which lasted only a few seconds.
The rest of the emission was mist that seemingly disappeared before the eyes.
Compare the two stacks. The one with the smoke is kiln 13 and the one without the smoke is kiln 14.
The dust collector on kiln 13 is already under construction and is to be completed shortly.
The Chinese company Bosai and the Government of Guyana have been under severe pressure from Lindeners to have the dust collectors in place. It had been delayed for several years.
Many residents have complained of respiratory and other illnesses as a result of the dust.
