(Jamaica Gleaner) Police detectives have now widened their search for Howard Williams, the man alleged to have murdered his common-law wife in Potsdam near Malvern, St. Elizabeth.
It is alleged that a man to chopped his common law wife to death in her bed beside their 13-year-old daughter.
The police say Howard Williams and his partner had been having domestic disputes for some time and about midnight last night, he chopped 47-year-old Sonia Martin multiple times as she slept.
The police had suspected that Williams body was seen in a nearby tank.
But after removing the water from the tank a short while ago, the search turned up nothing.
The couple’s children – a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy – are said to be in shock.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Derrick Cochrane is again lamenting the number of domestic murders being committed in Area Three.
“This is another case of the high level of domestic dispute happening in the area,” Cochrane said.
“We are pleading to people having problems at home to seek help from others talk to somebody and work it out before to such drastic actions.”
