Soca icon Machel Montano will perform live at the Guyana National Stadium on July 28 when Pulse Entertainers will host the much anticipated ‘Pulse Summer Fete’ concert.
Montano will be joined by Patrice Roberts and the rest of the HD Band, along with Farmer Nappy, the Karma Band and “Trouble” hit maker Shal Marshall. In addition to this, the promoters will be hosting several parties at Palm Court leading up to the big event, which they say is to create the mood of the show.
“Pulse is known for having more of the upscale club parties and we want to stick to what we know best and even though we are doing the show, leading up to the big event, because its summer, we want to still be part of having those premium standards with the décor, the music and the different concepts,” Head of Pulse Entertainment, Robbie Singh told The Scene.
He said the promotional team will not be involved in many events throughout August and as a result has decided to focus solely on July. “So that’s why we have a packed schedule with parties at Palm Court in July, it’s all themed around the show with Machel,” he said, adding that persons will have the opportunity to win passes and t-shirts at the parties.
Singh said this is the second concert Pulse has promoted, the first being the ‘Cooler Fete’ which was “a grand success”. This, however, is the first summer event and the best person to headline this event, he said, had to be the legendary Montano.
“Machel Montano, the king of Soca, the Soca icon is very huge right now. I think it’s the pinnacle of his career and he has promised us a terrific show,” he explained while noting the Machel’s stage time is expected to be two hours.
Also speaking to this newspaper was Pulse member, Trevor Rose, who noted that this show is one with a difference because of the fame Montano has managed to claim.
“The other times Montano was here, he was not as popular as he is now. Machel has become global, he is more in demand. Leading up to this show, Machel is booked every weekend throughout the world and now he is even booked for the Olympics. He has become global due to his new releases and what he has done over the past year since he has been here with regard to his music,” Rose said.
The team recently decided to dub the concert ‘a cooler event’ as well, allowing patrons to pass in free with coolers up to 9 pm. The general section would be required to pay a fee thereafter while VIP and VVIP ticket holders would be able to pass in with coolers all night.
Promoters are asking that persons take their ice separately and pour their drinks into plastic bottles rather than take glass bottles. This, Singh explained, is a security measure that is used at major events.
The gates will be opened at 7 pm and the show will begin promptly at 9 pm, he further stated.
General admission tickets cost $3,000, VIP tickets are $20,000 and VVIP tickets cost $30,000. VVIP ticket holders will be offered food and drinks and will enjoy the concert on a high rise stage while VIP patrons will be positioned at the stage front.
VIP and VVIP tickets are exclusively available at Glamour Designs while other ticket locations include the Princess Hotel Front Desk, Pulse Office, Street Styles, Lifestyles Boutique, Palm Court, Naughty and Nice Boutique, MovieTown and M&M Snackette.
