An EZJet aircraft is grounded and the passengers stranded when a ground handling vehicle drove into a part of the fuselage causing minor damage and the cancellation of the flight to JFK New York. An investigation is currently underway to determine exactly what happened.
Speaking to Stabroek News, public relations consultant to EZJet Christopher ‘Kit’ Nascimento said, “A loading vehicle hit the plane causing damage to the fuselage. It happened this morning as the plane was being cleaned. The loader was removing garbage,” he said.
Nascimento said that the stranded passengers who should have travelled at 15:00 hours yesterday were to have been flown out at 24:00 hours last night on an aircraft that EZJet sourced solely for the purpose. “All of the passengers have been notified and have been taken care of,” Nascimento said.
He said too that a maintenance crew from the US should be arriving today to effect repairs to the damaged part of the plane.
