NEW YORK, CMC – American Ted Howard will return to the post of CONCACAF’s deputy general secretary, following the appointment of Colombian Enrique Sanz as general secretary.
Howard had acted as general secretary for the last seven months following the resignation of fellow American Chuck Blazer who held the position for 21 years.
Newly-installed CONCACAF president Jeff Webb praised Howard’s contribution and said his continued presence in the organisation would be crucial.
“I am thankful for Ted’s efforts over the last eight months,” said Webb, who was elected last May.
“His experience will be critical as move forward with the work of reforming CONCACAF.”
Webb has been moving swiftly to reorganise CONCACAF, which took a battering form last year’s cash-for-votes scandal which rocked world football.
Blazer was one of the figures at the centre of the cash-for-votes scandal as it was his report that initiated FIFA’s investigation into the alleged corruption.
CONCACAF is the continental governing body for football in North, Central America and the Caribbean.
